I have a HP 241 G1 Laptop with ethernet not working in Windows 10 but working on Ubuntu 16.04.
Windows always detects ethernet being connected to an unidentified network with a 169.254.x.x IP address assigned to it. It doesn't detect the DHCP of my router. My router is a ASUS RT-N12+.
I'm more of a Ubuntu user, so I can't recall exactly when the problem started but, it's been around a week or two with this issue.
My NIC is a Realtek RTL8168 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
Ethernet works fine in Ubuntu.
Ethernet also works fine if I try to do a crossover connection with my other laptop running Ubuntu. If I connect to a windows machine, it won't work either.
As of now the following configurations are tested.
Ubuntu to any : OK
Windows to Ubuntu (crossover): OK
Windows to Windows (crossover): NOT WORKING
Windows to router: NOT WORKING
