i7-6700k overclocking question

So i recently started overclocking my 6700k. Right now i'm clocked at 4.5Ghz/1.32v. I can run prime 95 steadily without crashing(small ffts) and i sit around 78-80C. Keep in mind I'm using a Be quiet! Dark rock pro 3 on the silent fan settings. Is that voltage good? And are those temps okay?

Also a random side question, when browsing using Google chrome i'm often getting the blue spinning circle signifying that it's loading. It happens a lot more frequently than it has in the past. Should i just assume it's google chrome and not worry about it? Sorry i'm just constantly nervous about things on my computer and little stuff like that bugs me.

fizzym0nsterman,

Which version of Prime95?

Do NOT run any versions of Prime95 later than 26.6. Here's why:

Core i 2nd through 6th Generation CPU's have AVX (Advanced Vector Extension) instruction sets. Recent versions of Prime95, such as 28.9, run AVX code on the Floating Point Unit (FPU) math coprocessor, which produces unrealistically high temperatures. The FPU test in the utility AIDA64 shows similar results.

Prime95 v26.6 produces temperatures on 3rd through 6th Generation processors more consistent with 2nd Generation, which also have AVX instructions, but do not suffer from thermal extremes due to having a soldered Integrated Heat Spreader and a significantly larger Die.

Please download Prime95...
Those temps are high for the cooler you have, is thermal paste applied and is the cooler mounted correctly?
Chrome I wouldn't worry about, that's mainly to do with net speed.
Turn your fan profile setting back to default/standard and tell us your temps then.
It is still quiet, don't use the silent fan profile as it offers poor cooling.

So i've always had really high temps with prime95 so i'm wondering if thats not the issue for the temps? I've tried 3 other programs to stress the Cpu and it sits around 60C. I've read many places that prime95 tends to run really hot.

Yeah right now on Aida64 it' sits right around 60-65C. When using Prime95 I ran into an error with one of the tests during a torture test. I wasn't able to replicate it and i never crashed before that or anything. On my last PC build i got similar temps with Prime95. I'm not sure how much i trust that program.

Please download Prime95 version 26.6 - http://windows-downloads-center.blogspot.com/2011/04/prime95-266.html

Run only Small FFT’s for 10 minutes.

Use Core Temp to measure your temperatures - http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp

Your Core temperatures will test 10 to 20C lower with v26.6 than with v28.9.

Ah, that would make sense as i'm using the newest Prime95 version. Well i'm just going to skip Prime95 for tonight since i'm in bed now with Aida64 running. But that would explain why my temps were at 80C. I'm at 4.4Ghz/1.32v at 60C steady right now on Aida. Thanks
