A couple months ago I put together a system build but I decided to wait for the new nvidia GPUs to get released and now I have some new questions. Here is the base system that I have selected:

Motherboard: Asus Z170-PRO
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K
Memory: G.SKILL TridentZ (2 x 8GB) Timing 14-14-14-34, Cas Latency 14

Previously I had selected an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980TI but now that the new GPUs are out I am not sure if that's the best choice. For about the same price range, is there a better choice now? How does the 980Ti compare to the new 1060, 1070, and 1080 series?

980ti is coming in around the $400-$600 mark depending on model, the 1080 is coming in around the $650-700 mark depending on model. The 1070 is coming in around the price of a 980ti. In terms of performance, the 1070 is on par with or out performs the 980ti, and the 1080 beats out the 1070. It's all dependent on the game of course but thats the basic rundown.

All this is of course also dependent on your monitor. It's all well and good to have a card that can rip in to 4k content, but if your monitor doesn't support the content then you're paying more for something you can't even fully use.

Okay well I already have a monitor which displays 1920x1080 at 144Hz and I don't plan on changing that part of my build. I don't really imagine spending more than maximum $500 for a graphics card. For a bit under $500 I see on newegg there are several 980Ti and several 1070 cards. (By the way what is a 1070 FE?)

So since the prices look pretty much the same, what are the pros/cons of the 1070 versus the 980Ti?

Based on the above, the 1070 looks to be your best bet. The FE is the Founders Edition. Not really any advantage with it, the AIB cards will be cheaper, some will have better clocks and cooling. The 1070's main advantage over the GTX 980 Ti is lower power consumption.

Okay, I think I will go with the 1070. Can anyone recommend one in particular? Besides price value, I'm looking for whichever card is the most reliable and QUIET. I'm really trying to build a quiet system here. Thanks!
