Hello, just purchased ASUS GTX 970 and it needs a 8 pin connection. Power supply only has 4 pin connections. Do I just purchase an adapter that fits two of my 4 pin connectors into a 8 pin connector ?
Also, I am running an AMD Radeon R9 270 right now. What is the proper procedure for removing the AMD Radeon card & installing the ASUS GTX 970?
Thank you for your help.

Intel I-7 4790
Samsung 850 Pro SSD
16 Gb DDR3 RAM
AMD Radeon R9 270
PSU 500 Watt

the 4-pin is for the motherboard

if your power supply does not have the proper 6+2 or 8-pin pcie cable then you need a new power supply

no, if your power supply does not have at least a 6-pin pcie cable, then it is a piece of junk that needs to be replaced

using adapters with it would not be smart

also by 4-pin do you mean this?:
