I plan to upgrade my pc next March (because that is my birthday). I plan to get a Xeon E5 2670 and a Intel DX79TO Extreme Series LGA 2011 MoBo. I do things like video editing, photoshop, 3D animations, and play games. I don't want any other cpu, I just want to know will this last at least 2-4 years, or just about like 5 months and then I'll have to upgrade again?

maybe 3 years, if you notice lacking performance pick a six core and overclock it, but as more things become multi thread capable, I would think you would benefit performance gains with the 8 cores. Problem is technology is evolving and improving very quickly now of days.

It would be fine for that kind of stuff, but if you want to get into gaming I'd get a 4930K six core and overclock it. But if you can get that xeon cheaper, I can't see why not. I know people still on the x58 platform and probably wont upgrade for another couple of years, but depending on if thats all you're doing and you can't dish out hundreds - thousand then it should last.
