can dell optiplex755 psu(305watt) run gtx 750 ti ???

+COOL GHOST The fact that your power supply is 305 watts means that you're fortunate enough to have the mid-tower version of the Optiplex 755 and not the 220 watt ultra-small form factor. Ironically the customer comment I located from an 755 owner states that he successfully installed this GPU in his system. The single slot versions of the GTX 750 Ti is the most powerful single slot GPU on the market that I'm personally aware of.

Addendum: My apologies for pasting such a verbose review. I could find no way to hyperlink directly to it. I located it by clicking the link to the NewEgg product page, then clicking the eggs for the customer reviews. From there I searched the term "755", and this single review was the result.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my Dell Optiplex 755!

This review is from: MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti DirectX 11.2 N750ti-2GD5TLP 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: - Fit perfectly
- Great arrange of display brackets
- No 6 pin power
- Card packs a punch
- Great 1080p performance for mid/high fx
- Cooler is great! (Modded it a bit, See below in other)
- Came with drivers on a cd, needed it for one of the computers

Cons: - Doesn't cook bacon

Other Thoughts: Here is a little back story on how I came across this card.
My college was tossing out a bunch of computers from around 2008. There were tons and tons of Dell Optiplex 755's, keyboards, mice, and 1440x900 monitors, figured I'd take a bunch home and see what I can come up with. The specs of these computers was a mid range Core 2 Duo, 4 GBs of ram, and an 160 GB hard drive, and with a dated ATi Radeon HD card (can't remember the series and model). My idea was to see if I could build an HTPC/ light gaming computer for my fellow friend and I. I wanted to make something similar to an Xbox One since it was low profile and could easily fit in the case under our TV. The Dell Optiplex 755 case's are a slim low profile case, so space for a good graphics card was pretty limited, in fact very limited. Mind you, the power supply was also around 220 watt and there is no 6 pin power connector or Molex connectors to give graphics card power!

My options were very limited, not many low profile cards to begin with that were modern, limited power options (no 6 pin or molex connectors), and space was an issue limiting only to low profile cards. I did quite a bit of research and stumbled upon this little beauty. 640 Cuda cores, 2GB's of Video Ram, and GPU Boost 2.0? I picked up two of them! (Was building two of these computers, one for me, one for a friend)

This graphics card was the optimal choice, hand's down... It was exactly what I was looking for. It had an array of brackets, no molex or 6 pin power connectors required to power the card (PCI-E was the only required power), low profile, packs a punch for the size and cost, runs cool because of the well built and free flowing cooler on it.

I'm able to play Fallout 4 and other like games at medium/high settings, textures were set to extra. FPS is 35-50. @1080p
Left 4 Dead 2 was 100 FPS on max AA and highest settings. @1080p
GTA V was able to run medium settings around 35-50 fps. @1080p
Only trouble I had was when raining, the CPU in the computer had a tough time keeping up as it's very dated, (will overclock later).

I managed to salvage and add a couple upgrades to the two Dell Optiplex 755's I built.

Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 2.66Ghz
DDR2 Corsair Dominator Ram @800mhz 4GB's
Upgraded from a DVD to a Blu-Ray drive
Put a 1TB Hard drive in there.
MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti low profile card

I noted under in Pros about the cooler and how I modded it. The back of the cooler (farthest part from the display connectors) I put a piece of tap around the heat sinks and between the fan and the bottom of the heat sink. This allowed the card to be put into a blower style cooler and exhausts the heat only towards the back of the computer and not foward as well. I figured this would be a better cooling solution since the only fan in the Dell Optiplex 755 is a front intake fan that blows towards the back.

I salute you MSI! I've only ran EVGA cards before I bought this card, this is a very special card for a very special task. And you have out done yourself. Please, don't stop what your doing.

one thing , I noticed the Asus GTX 950 75 watts version can be modded to fit in one slot by cutting the slot brackets . it has no DVI slots on the second slot ,I know will loose warranty and so on I am not giving this as an advice , but did any one try that?

do you have this Riser card in your pc ?

PCIERISER.JPG

as it seems , you only option is a single slot card , and maybe using the riser card will not allow for 2 slots fan . you cant even put the 750 ti in there ..

is this the back of your PC ?

maybe if we get a different riser board (cable ) you can install the GPU in the first slot giving you dual slot option .

I think I can solve your problem .

you can remove the riser card , fit the card in the 2 slotts then attach it to the PCIe x16 slot using a cable like this

Hi Samer,

I own an old Optiplex 755 SFF with the 305 Watts PSu too.

Are you sure it will work with the GTX 750 ti?

I am doubting anything, however I see different answers, sometime like yours, others tell you it will not work?

I'm a bit confused to buy the card or not.

thank's
