So I needed a new CPU cooler for my old system, and bought a Coolermaster hyper 212 evo.
System specs:
So I bought a triple kit, with 3x4 gb since the I7 supports triple channel memory.
Corsair vengeance, 1600MHz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5V
(http://www.corsair.com/en/vengeance-12gb-triple-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz12gx3m3a1600c9)
In order to install the new cooler I had to remove the motherboard to install the backplate.
After connecting everything again, including new RAM it showed a CMOS checksum error.
Then it started fine and got stuck on the windows logo.
I googled and found a lot of the same problems but none of their solutions fixed it for me.
BIOS recognizes the 12 gb of ram. I manually selected the timings, I reset to default settings and even putting back the old RAM doesn't let me boot past the windows logo.
Every first time I start the PC (after power has been off) it boots into a "found a problem" menu where I can go to a restore point or safe mode etc. Trying to do safe mode boot from the menu is not possible because the sub menu doesn't respond.
When I then restart it stays on the windows logo forever and the keyboard lights flicker and then stay off.
Is this a hardware issue or software issue? I'm completely stuck.
Thanks for any help.
