Looking for some help upgrading my current rig

Current Build
GIGABYTE GA-H87-D3H
Intel i5 4570
16GB ddr3 1600 ram
nVidia GTX 760 2gb
XFX TS Pro 650W Bronze PSU

I was thinking upgrade the 760 to a 1070, swap the PSU for a modular PSU, anything else I should upgrade? I'm working with about 1000USD budget.

Gaming wise I play

Overwatch
Fallout 4
Civ 5 (and will play 6)
World of Warcraft
Starcraft 2
Diablo 3

Any suggestions? If a new build is more efficient I can go that route as well and use my current as a headless VM server

Thanks!

If you're going to upgrade to the 1070, perhaps it would be a good idea to upgrade your CPU , whether to a better i5 or a better i7, especially considering the budget you have. But that's definitely not necessary. I'd be able to help you out a bit more if you provided all the information about what you currently have.

What resolution are you playing at? A 1070 is a very nice card, but it is very overkill for most gamers, since most gamers game on 1080p, where the 1060 excells, and 1070 is overkill. Although, if you play on 1440p or higher and want really good fps (not a guy that cringes under 60 fps) than you will want the 1070.

As others above me have said, getting a new psu may be a waste as 650 w is more than enough unless ur planning on sli or super OC.

Hope I could help ;)

xConzs : Not sure what you mean but heres everything in my build

16GB Ballistix Sport DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) (4x4gb)
XFX TS Edition Pro 650W 80 PLUS Bronze
NZXT Source 210 Black
256 Samsung SSD
1TB Seagate 7200 RPM 32mb cache sata drive
Lite-on DVD burner
intel Core i5-4570 Haswell Quadcore 3.2 GHZ LGA 1150 84W
Hyper 101i CPU Cooler
Gigabyte GA H87 D3H LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI mobo

I looked into a processor upgrade but that would most like require a new motherboard since mine doesnt support newer processors

@Usa_john I typically like to game at 1080, tough I may be adding a ultrawide monitor (2560*1080) or a 1440 monitor for work so that maybe a factor though my 1080 screen will still be available

I had looked at logical increments builds and decided that if I had to build new outstanding would probably be my target build

To be honest, the 1070 is basically all you need at the moment- unless you want to buy both a new motherboard and CPU. Although the 1060 might be a better and cheaper option for now, as the 1070 could be overkill.

xConzs thanks! I guess what I'll do is get the 1060 and stick the rest of the money into savings so down the road when I have a bigger upgrade path I can go with higher end stuff

Thanks!

The only reason to do that is to get max bang for buck, as 1060s start at just $200 and can easily perform in the $350 range.

That said, if you're serious about what you said in upgrading to 1440p, esp if 144Hz, it's a bad move.

IMO a 1070 even for extra headroom at 1080p is wise, especially when consoles will be 4-6 TFLOP by end of next year, and push game development higher. Plus a lot of games are poorly coded/ported and NEED that extra headroom.

The 1440p is mostly for work stuff for when I work from home, I'm not expecting to game at that.

None the less you still recommend the 1070 and then banking the rest for future?
