My External HDD is Detected but not accessible after the Win 10 Anniversary Update

So guys im at a huge dilema here

pre update mit was working fine and i was usuing it for years with zero issues

i plugged it in after updates finished and its detected but i cant access it. ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but have no luck. can someone please help me out

Hello, and welcome to Tom's hardware.

What kind and size of removable HDD do you have? Is it USB connected? Might connect it to a different computer to see if it can be seen properly. That would tell you if the problem is with the computer, OS or drive.

Then, with it connected, check in the BIOS to see if the BIOS recognizes it properly, then look in Device Manager to see if the OS sees and load it's drivers properly, Is should say "This device is working properl". Finally go to Disk Management, and see in the bottom graphical area if it is properly installed, if it is properly recognized as a Basic Drive, and probably an MBR partition type with NTFS formatted. Is the band above the drive a dark blue or some other color? Also if the...
