Hey guys so today my parents laptop died and they figured they wanted a nice computer and they left it down to me. So I bought them nice parts to be able to do the simple task such as watching videos, transferring documents, and my mom wants to create a website with dream weaver. My dad wants to be able to create videos and upload them so I decided to give them this build:
I7 6700
EVGA GTX 750 SC
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Gigabyte LGA 1151 Z170
And some other key components.
My computer currently is about 1 year and 4 months old and consists of a i5-4690k, a r9 280x which i am upgrading to a MSI GTX 1060 due to the r9 giving me black bars and screen problems such as the blue screen of death. I also have a MSI Z97 Gaming 3 motherboard and cooler master hyper 212 evo. My plan is to take out my i5 and put in the i7 into my computer and put the i5 in their computer. Do you guys think that my motherboard can handle an i7 plus will the i5 be like on its final legs if i move it over and can it withstand and complete all the tasks that they want to do? Thanks.

Solution
No can do.
I7-6700 is lga1151.
Your i5-4690K is lga1150.
Go ahead and upgrade your graphics to GTX1060. Your current i5-4690K is about as good as any current upgrade you can do.

On your parent's build, i7-6700 is totally inappropriate.
Build using a I3-6100 and integrated graphics.
The key to performance for them is to use a ssd for windows. Use a hard drive for bulk storage like videos.
The 120mm fan on a cryorig H7 cooler will be quieter.

Admirable
You will need to get 4790k and yes till will handle it without problems. There is no difference in power consumption between i5 and i7 if we are talking about 4 core models.i5 will handle all those task just fine.
