I noticed my restore wasn't restoring backup points. So, I went to restore section and verified that indeed it was shut off. I noticed it was turned off for C:, but turned on for D:, but showed no restore points, and it was also turned on for I: drive which is my My Book external back up drive. I backup both C/D drives to this continuously. I decided to turn off the D: drive for restoring as I have everything backed up to My Book I: drive as I don't want that backed up to the C:. After doing that I noticed the D: disappeared from the view window of available drives for restore. I went to device manager and it shows no D:. I save all files to D:. C: has OS Windows 7, Office 2013, and other software that works better on an SSD. . I save all files to D:, then back them up to My Book. I have searched here and other places for solutions, but most have to do with new installs. Any ideas would be apprecaited

Solution
Since your HDD is not being shown up in BIOS there are two possibilities, either your HDD got some hard failure, or its simply an issue of connectivity.

Try unplugging the sata cable and plugging it again in your HDD and in the mobo. If it still fails to get recognized in BIOS try using a new sata cable, hopefully that's the case.

HDD: is secondary to the SSD, slaved I think is what the term is. How do I see if it's getting recognized in BIOS; I have never worked with BIOS before.
