Recently my family's old computer went kaput and they've been looking for a new one recently. My parents don't get a lot of use on the computer outside of internet use and file storage, and I have a little brother that plays a lot of games.

The budget is $1000-2000, this is a starting build I came up with, let me know if there's anything I should change here or any opinions you have.

Sorry updated the original post I made here this is what I like, change case and CPU cooler if you want and you could add in a 1440p G-Sync monitor if you wish under budget.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Without a K (unlocked) CPU the Z170 board features arn't worth having considering you can't overclock it with the multiplyer. If you dislike the case and CPU cooler change them out and with the budget of $2000 you could even get a 1440p g-sync monitor instead of a 1080p like I've added.

Oh okay, well what's the best alternative for a Z170?

Maybe because bang for buck? He said between $1000-$2000 so I went for the middle with best performance to price ratio. If he goes with a 1440p 144hz monitor then sure add in the 6700k and gtx 1080 but if he is going for 1080 144hz the 1070 is more than enough!
