So as the lga 3647 and announced i wanted to know ur opinions about the biuld i am planning. Msi x99a mpower , a xeon or i7 cpu still to be determined and can be changed later paired with a gtx970. i wanted to know how long can this motherboard with the lga2011-3 socket will last me without the need to upgrade. i do alot of gaming + video editing and some rednering. Do u think it is a smart idea to build an lga2011-3 while the 3647 is soon to be released ? shall i wait like 7 months or so and get the new socket.
Ps. i currently only own a laptop and it sort of getting painful :)
let me know what u think :)

lga 3647 so far is shaping up for super exotic Xeons with support for on die FPGAs. I do not think there should be much of an issue as to lga 3647 threatening lga 2011 perhaps some time after Kabylake there could be a new platfrom, but even then as the 6XXX series chips are pretty much on par with skylake, a kaby lake system will likely only have more cores. so really I would go for it.

reliability wise they should be the same, but as for that server board, it would work fine for dual xeons, however, that might actually be overkill. for gaming a Xeon is going to be not very useful unless it turbos up a lot which means you would have to be only gaming. getting a solid board like the M power and then going for an 8 or even that 10 core if you can afford it might be better, as you can push the clocks to 4 GHz, and then have great gaming, and still edit and render. this is assuming that the editing and Render is all CPU based.
