I've gone through a bunch of threads on various forums trying to find a solution to my issue but haven't had any luck.

I have an Intel G3258, and an Asus H81M-A motherboard.

If I modify the clock speed in the bios in any way, the computer refuses to boot into Windows 7. It gets to the "Starting Windows" screen and immediately reboots.

I even tried using the Asus Power and Performance software, which has an "extreme" setting which I believe kicks the clock speed up to 3.6ghz (as i noticed a change in the bios I didn't make after clicking it), which also caused the PC to crash.

There has to be something I'm missing, but I can't figure out what it is.

I've noticed the exact same thing with my G3258 and ASUS H81M-E in Windows 7...

I've noticed the exact same thing with my G3258 and ASUS H81M-E in Windows 7. My G3258 system happens to run XP, but I had to install Windows 7 briefly in order to run a utility to edit my video BIOS. I never looked for a fix because the system is strictly an XP machine, and I don't have that problem in XP. I would suggest updating the BIOS.
