If your motherboard does not have a usb 3.0 port then you wont be able to take advantage of the speed. It isn't possible to simply add a usb 3.0 port to your motherboard.

Sure... but if you would like to get a new motherboard youll probably also need a new CPU since its likely that your current CPU wont fit into the same socket as newer motherboards.
You'll also need to decide if you want an Intel or AMD CPU and which one exactly since they all have different sockets. If you dont know enough to make a decision then go with this...
