I have a dell inspiron 7459 and I was wanting to factory reset it due to a failure of the SSD not doing its job (caching) when it is meant to, the issue of that is fixed thanks to Dell I have all the tools needed to make the factory image recovery media like the USB hard drive and the application Dell Backup and Recovery.

But I was wondering that after you create a factory recovery image on a USB hard drive, could you still add normal files such as photos and videos on the same hard drive even when the factory recovery image is still there? It's because I have a 500GB external hard drive and the image will cover up 132GB of space.

I got nowhere else to store my videos and photos because they are large files and makes up a total of 100GB of space and this external hard drive is the only one I have with the factory recovery image on it.

Yes, you can store other stuff on the same drive where your system recovery image is saved. Nothing wrong with that.

Create a good folder structure and use self-explanatory folder names on your external drive so you can easily find whatever you need to find when the time comes.
