i am planning to upgrade my pc but i have a tight budget now, so i can only upgrade one for the meantime. i only play CSGO, Dota 2 and overwatch, and i also do programming and little photoshop. i also had a deal for the i7 2700K for 100usd. should i go for this? or should i go for the latest processor? thank you

this is my specs:

CPU : Intel i3 3220 @ 3.30ghz
GPU : Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1GB DDR5
RAM: 8GB hyperX fury

Solution

I think the i7 would open up the performance to allow you to play higher end games and better GPU's without bottlenecking, the RX 460 is twice the performance maybe more I believe of the 6870. But I would certainly get...

I would grab the i7 2700k, they are still pretty relevant as a CPU, and I doubt you would find a really good deal on a worthy GPU under 100 USD, so I would get the i7 save up for a GPU later on, if you're playing them games alright then hold out a little longer for the GPU.

so i7 2700k is still a good deal? i'm thinking of getting the rx 460 for 120 usd, but how much performance i would get if upgrading it from 6870. if not more, i will get the i7 2700k and save up more to get rx 470 or maybe 480. thank you

But I would certainly get the i7 thats a really good deal, in the UK they are going for like £150 which is a lot more than $100. But thats the best option get the i7 now and get a better GPU down the line. The i3 will bottleneck a lot of the newer GPU's

Definitely the wisest choice :) ontop of that, if you're motherboard supports overclocking you could overclock it.
