I need good informations on how fiber optic cables works.

Hello! I'm from India and I have a 2 MbPS broadband internet connection. The local ISP recently contacted me that I can use fiber optic connection but I need not to pay more. Will doing this give me faster internet without increasing the cost of it? As a college science student, I have some basic ideas on how these works but I just wanted to make sure from you nerds. Help me out and please tell me exactly how much change I'm gonna see?? Will the same price would give me faster service?? Thank you.

There is no way to know if fiber to the home will give you faster internet. You could have fiber to your computer and still be limited to 2Mbs by your ISP.
