Hello everyone!

Updated at 8:44PM When I run the XMP Profile on my memory (G.Skill 3400) it pushes the CPU temps through the roof and moves the BLCK to 102.4, [/b]

I don't if I have a bad motherboard, CPU, memory or what.
Gigabyte Gaming 7
i7 6700k.
G.Skill 3400mhz

My 6700k hits almost 86-90c under full load with XMP enabled in(AIDA64) I am running my x61 kraken cooler and it worked perfectly fine on my 2500k @ 4.5ghz. On my 2500k, I never went near 65c let alone 90c.

Motherboard - takes two tries to default back to system defaults, dual bios doesn't seem to work either. I am not sure if I have a bad board, hates the XMP? Idle temps are fine and gaming is fine, but soon as its under load. It pushes 90C @ 100% on all cores when using XMP i.e AIDA 64 etc.

CPU - Is it a bad CPU?

Memory causing issues?

I have reset the thermal paste twice, and no go. The x61 Kraken works perfectly fine... I am afraid to even keep testing with benchmarks seeing the temps spike so bad.

Not sure what part is giving me the trouble? I did start a RMA for the motherboard, but not sure if its the CPU/RAM/Mobo?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah after more testing stock it's around 60-65c on full load, but the the xmp set it sky rockets and the clock speed is the same.

I have checked the mounts and it's good to go.

Temps are good, cooler is moving air cooler then ambient.

Voltage is 1.32 when xmp is set. I really think it's a bios issues with the motherboard not liking the xmp.

The bios also seems to be very flaking and wasnt saving settings. also dual bios doesn't want to work either. Wondering if it's struggling with the XMP profile.

I was able to get a full refund, might try the Asus hero board.

Funny that gigabyte doesn't support the memory but g.skill says it does.

Asus and g.skill both agree on the specs.

Plus this gigabyte board led...
what is the Core voltage on the CPU? I would venture to say it is around 1.4 for those temps. but it could be something else. does the air leaving the radiator or the water tubes feel hot? then that means the CPU is running crazy hot, if it is not getting warm then there might be a mounting issue.

Plus this gigabyte board led is green when white lol

Yeah idk. The mobo seems not to like the memory. Stock it's fine, but hoping a different board will be able to regulate temps and the minor bclk OC that the ram pushes
