Why is my wired connection half what my download speed is supposed to be?

I have the house wired for Ethernet and the connection is 170mbps download on the computer I have hooked up to the modem. On another room with a computer plugged into a gigabit switch with a cat 6 cable that is hooked into a wall Ethernet outlet, my download speed is only 80mbps. It used to be 170 but now it's around half the speed of my other computers. Any ideas what might be wrong? I had to reinstall the ethernet driver recently because it randomly stopped working. Other details I'm using Windows 10 and have a gigabit port on my PC.

Is obvious, something wrong with the cable (unlikely) or connectors (more likely).

1. You should had use solid core, not stranded CAT6, 2. You should had not made any sharp turns while running the cables, 3. The Cat, if run in parallel to power cables, should be at least 6" apart, 4. Cat6/Gigabit spec calls that you do not un-twist the pairs more than 1". 5. 100 meters max per segment and less if not ideal conditions, 6. You followed religiously the EIA 568A/B color convention, 7. You used a punch tool to terminate the RJ45, if you did any crimping, all bets are off. I will just say crimping not for the home hobbyst.

Check status LED by NIC/Switch, the light maybe telling you it has dropped to 100mbit.

Now there is some small possibility that this is a W10 driver issue, but that's ez snuff to figure out, just put another device, no W10, in its place and test.
