Hello,

Basically, my hard drive is sata 2 and is 4-5 years old, i'm planning on replacing it since it gives me quite a lot of lagg, and i'd be using as a secondary drive. And i need to know what to get a 120-240GB ssd or a SSHD as a main drive which would contain windows, steam, and load games from.

My current specs:

i5 - 4690k default clock
Msi - gaming 5 z97
Evga - 850w G2
Gpu - XFX HD 7750 (upgrading to msi gtx 1060 OC 6gb)
Ram - random 8gb ram (upgrading to PNY 2X4GB DDR3 1866MHZ)
Case: Coolermaster CM 693 with window
Monitor: Hp 1920x1080p monitor (4 years old, upgrading soon)

An SSD+HDD would provide much better performance than an SSHD. On an SSHD there's only a small amount of flash storage which is used for storing the most frequently accesses files which is managed by the drive and you can't control what goes in it. Also people with SSHD's have been facing a lot problems, you can read several threads filled with issues.

You can install windows, softwares etc on the SSD for faster boot time and quick access and keep the HDD for storing other stuff including games. You will notice only 2-3 fps increase in games when installed on SSD but yes the loading times will be faster.
