your power supply is the real limit I would think. Frankly anything over a 750ti is wasted money, as the CPU will fall far behind. you would want at least a 350W power supply for that card, and one of a reputable brand name such as EVGA, XFX, Seasonic, Superflower,Corsiar RM/AX/HX.

As said above, theorically, you can use any GPU since it works separetely, but your CPU WILL slow it down.
If you plan on using a good GPU you'll have to upgrade your CPU as well.

depending on you motherboard you might be able to get a Q6950, that would be the best.
