So, Im in the works of upgrading a few components in my PC and I wanted to ask some others on their opinion for my current PSU as I dont really trust online calculators. At the moment I have an antec high current gamer 620w 80+bronze(about 3 years old). After all is said and done, my new build will be an AMD fx8350 or 8370, sapphire nitro+ RX 480 and 16gb ddr3 2133 all on the asus m5a99fx from my current build. I do have an ssd (samsung 840) and a 1tb hdd, 4 120mm fans and 1 simple dvd drive. no wifi cards or sound cards. Am I good on my psu or do I need one with more juice? Thanks in advance!

If anyone wants to know or cares, I currently have an amd fx4300, amd hd7870 and 8gb ddr3 2133 (not even sure if adding RAM is worth it really but why not?). I am only upgrading these 3 things so far. I wanna wait for the Zen chip to go any further :)

With 48Amps on the 12V you can achieve a maximum of 576W, the RX480 needs around 150-180W for itself, and the rest of the system will surely not go over 200W. Your PSU is fine for now, maybe after a few years when the caps age further the voltages might drop but for now there is no need to worry.

Ya need as 450 watter

This is Guru3D's generic power supply recommendation for the series:

AMD Radeon RX 480 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.

And that's with a 5960X OC'd to the wall with power measured "at the wall"

Whose name is on the PSU has little to do with who made it.

Which of the following is true ?

Antec makes Great PSUs
Antec makes Decent PSUs
Antec makes Crappy PSUs

The answer is "all of the above".

What you really want to know is the model number

The HCG is a great PSU, made by Seasonic on the GB Bronze platform. Other units on this platform include:

XFX Core 450-550
XFX TS 550 Bronze
Seasonic S12II Bronze
Seasonic M12II Bronze 520-620
