File recovery 1.6 TB

I recently deleted around 1.6 TB of pictures and documents from my WD My Passport 2TB External hard drive. A portion (entire folder with subfolders) of the pictures are moved to the Recycle Bin and deleted from there. How can I recover these files? What softwares are the best?

That is really unpleasant. :(

There are many threads on data recovery in the community. I can't really recommend you a specific one. I believe the data should be recoverable, as long as it is not overwritten. Also, you will need another drive where you can restore the data to. That way, you will avoid this eventual overwriting process.
