After going through the frustration of installing the other components I find my self currently stuck with getting the motherboard to go through the damn I/O cover and even line up with the atx holes. Anyone have an idea how to fix this or did I just buy a bum case that won't fit my motherboard?

My motherboard is an ASUS Z170-P and my case is a Rosewill R5 mid tower.

Itll be easier for me to just get a new mother board than a new case so replacement reccomendations are also appreciated.
Also I really hate the I/O shield it's tabs are actively making my job harder.

It's always like that. Make sure stand-offs are properly aligning with holes on MB with no extra ones sticking out. I usually make a dry run at it, without IO cover. When satisfied with line up, mount IO plate securely on the case. When you start mounting MB, push it so top left screw hole lines up and just start a screw in there. Then you can push MB by left bottom corner and start the last screw there. After that, all other screws should line up. Only after all screws are started you can tighten them.
