Asus p5k doesn't detect added RAM

So my old rig has a Asus p5k mobo.
There are 4 ram slots on this mobo. I have always used 1 slot for my 2gb stick. I have another, identical stick of ram (they were bought together). When I decided to upgrade it, I checked the manual to see which slot to put ram in and installed the ram. It didn't seem to work at all. I have never changed or added ram before. I even brought the pc to a Profesional pc engineer (I think they're called engineers :p). He ran somekind of a program om the pc before windows have turned on and it only detected 2 gb of ram instead of 4gb. I know that windows 32bit version (witch I have installed) only supports up to 3 gb of ram, but in computer properties it still shows 2 gb.
Also I have one more problem. I have trouble entering bios. The pc just won't listen and enter windows. Then I tried to open the pc and see if all the cables are fully connected and everything was good so I don't know what's up.

Solution
Try remove the CMOS battery to clear the CMOS, after the PC may detect other stick memory, if that stick RAM works fine.

For the trouble entering bios, do you mean even use one stick RAM? or two of them?
