2 gtx 1070 or 1 gtx 1080 for 4k

Good morning Folks.
Currently updating my gpus.
I am gaming at 4k using asus pb287q 60hz 4k monitor.

Here comes the question
single gtx 1080 palit super jetstream 680euro.

2 way sli gtx 1070 palit super jetstream 850 euro.

is 170euro difference. is it worth it?

so far i have been gaming at 4k with 2 r9 290 tri-x oc but i found to sell them for 400 euro both so i cant say no.

What is your experience and thoughts?

The 1070's in sli will be faster

will there be that much of a difference in fps to make it worth the 170 euro?

yea. so good new is that the 1080 is even cheaper. is 650 not 680. so i am thinking of grabing one atm and add another in 1-2 months with a possibly price drops or christmas sales. then i would greatly outperfom the 1070 sli setup and 4k gaming will be much better

I wouldn't say greatly as the 1080 isn't much faster than a 1070

I've been running 2 gtx 1070s in SLI on a 4k monitor and getting good frame rates and no stuttering or lagging at all works like if you had a gtx 1080 on a 1080 p monitor
