performance difference on the 2nd pcie lane

i have msi Z170-A gaming M3 i changed my gpu from the 1st pcie x16 lane to the second one the thing is i have r9 295x2 and my motherboard states that it will only run at x4 speeds when running on the second lane. just wondering because the 295x2 have 2 gpus if thisis the same case or this runs at x16 speeds aswell BTW i've been experiencing a lot of performance drops after swapping pcie lanes. can use the first but it's very close to the radiator and the radiator is very hot.

never mind i found the solution the pcie 4 lane only runs at x1 games when either the pcie lane 1 or lane 3 is in use i was using a wifi adapter i took it out and now it detects both gpus.

There will be no difference.
Even the highest end graphics cards on the market do not bottleneck with the 8x PCIE slot, there is more than enough bandwidth there.
It uses the first slot as the primary slot though, so in your case the 295x2 will run as a single card with skewed VRAM and two cores.
Think of it as prebuilt crossfire really. ;)
