I have a asrock z87 extreme3 im not sure what Pcie to use

Solution

Always use the topmost (closest to CPU) x16 slot for the GPU. Although you can theoretically use any, some motherboards support x16 only in the top slot and then x8 or x4 in remaining ones (even if the size is x16)
