I want to set up a STB on a remote location, only problem is that the STB is not on the same physical network port as the internet traffic (vlans are filtered) so what I'm wondering is if it's possible to set up one router as vpn server and connect dhcp for the stb in one of the lan ports and get it out of a lan port in the other end? See attached illustration.

Solution
it is possible to configure DHCP relay (passthrough) on enterprise grade equipment. most consumer grade routers don't have that feature.
it will be much simpler to assign static IPs or get the router on the other side of the VPN to act as a DHCP server.
