Hi all. I just want to know what am2+ cpu should I buy that is not going to bottleneck my amd radeon hd 6770 powercolor 1gb?
I have amd athlon 64 x2 4400+ 2.3GHz and I think it's bottlenecking my gpu too much.
Thank youu.

Your athlon 64 x2 4400+ has a passmark performance rating of 1149 and a single thread rating of 692.
It is the single thread rating that is most important for games.

Your proposed upgrades will have total passmark ratings in the3000-4000 range, mainly due to more threads.(games rarely can use more than 2-3 threads)
The single thread ratings will be in the 1000-1200 range, a nice upgrade.

But, consider that the cheapest intel skylake cpu, the $45 G3900 has a rating of 3381 and a single thread rating of 1711.
And, the integrated HD530 graphics on many skylake processors is about the same capability as your 6770.
Consider that it may be time to move to current tech.

Changing to another old AM2+ CPU would be a marginal improvement and really isn't worth the expense, unless free. I would suggest it is time to save for a new rig altogether.

To determine what your CPU options are, we need to know the make and model of your motherboard.

I got MSI K9N6PGM2-V2, I already have checked list of supported processors and I'm thinking about some phenom II x4 or athlon 2 x4.

Thanks for your reply.
I see, interesting, didn't know that. I know that it's time to move, but I'm currently limited with money and can't get new motherboard that will support that cpu. So I just want to upgrade to whatever cpu that is supported and better than my current one and that will perform better with 6770. So, any recommendations? Thanks.
