Nintendo 3DS vs 2DS?

I decided that Nintendo handheld consoles are the only consoles that I'll play on, and that is mainly because I love Pokémon so much. I've played Pokémon from Generation III-V (IMO the graphics of the Generation I-II games suck so bad I don't even want to play them on an emulator). Now, I'm thinking about Generation VI and VII, and I'm torn between the New 3DS XL and 2DS. I know that the New 3DS XL (I have to mention the "New" because they're different according to Nintendo's website) is more compact because it's foldable, and it can be put inside my pouch easier than the 2DS, but when I bring my backpack instead of my pouch, I always use a 3rd party case. I also wonder how does the 3D technology work. Are foldability and 3D worth $120 extra?

Hi again, sorry for the late reply,
The images on the 3DS dont feel as if they're firing out the screen at you, it just sort of enhances the 3D graphics and makes the game look slightly better by making it look more realistic and in some cases things do look as if they're popping out but not like in a movie but like i said before i haven't used my 3DS for years so not sure if they have updated how games work with the 3D and made them look better.

I would definitely go for the 2DS, i had a 3DS and only used the 3D option as i felt i had to just to get my moneys worth and it didnt make much of a difference tbh. But this was over 2 years ago when i had one and dont know if they have improved the games on 3D.

Exactly, thats another reason why i didn't like the 3DS as you have to hold it at a certain distance and angle to get the full effect which made it slightly awkward when playing on games. IDProG Try searching on google on which one to get to get a more detailed answer and help you with your decision.

If your main use of it is to play Pokémon, then I'd say DEFINITELY the 2ds. So I have a normal sized 3ds, my friend has a 3ds XL, and my other friend has a 2ds, so I've had expirience with all of them. If you were going to play a game such as Super Mario 3d land, I'd say the 3ds, because it actually helps you in the game. But in most other games, the 3d is just a gimmick. I have Pokémon X and Pokémon Sun for my 3ds, and it only uses 3d in X for caves and battles, in which it doesn't even look that good. In Sun, you can't use 3d at all. (except maybe in caves idk I haven't played it in a while) Also, the 2ds is a lot more portable than people think it is. The battery also lasts longer.

Although I'm assuming you've already bought your console by now, if you asked this now I'd just say get the 2ds XL cause you get the folding screen and 3d is pretty crappy anyway tbh.
