so im getting an AMD Athlon x4 860k and i was wondering if this fan (ARCTIC Freezer Xtreme Rev. 2) would be good enough to overclock the CPU.
if it is good enough what GHZ do you recommend me overclocking it to?

Solution
I highly recommend against the Athlon x4; AMD's CPUs are not competitive in 2016. For the cost of it + heatsink, an i3 6100 would be considerably faster, draw less power, and run cooler and quieter under its stock heatsink.

The only reason why I'm getting this cpu is because It fits my motherboard and I don't have enough money to buy a hole new motherboard and cpu.
I may upgrade to the new amd cpus at Christmas.
Also I curently have an amd apu a6 dual core and I wanted to get a cheap upgrade for the time until christmas were I will upgrade to a way better cpu.

Ah, seems reasonable then. I'd probably avoid spending so much on a cooler, you likely won't need it with your new CPU, but if it's something you really want to do, it looks good for its price. Other coolers in that price range that are highly rated include the Coolermaster Hyper212 EVO, and the Cryorig H7.
