My CPU temp steadily climbs to 85 degrees celsius over the course of ~10 minutes, and eventually shuts off. This happens when my computer is idle; literally sitting on the windows desktop with no games, browsers, etc.
My CPU processor is an Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Cpu E8400 @ 3.00 gHz. I believe I have liquid cooling system installed to cool my CPU.
I know my computer is really dusty so I'm in the process of ordering some compressed air. Are there any other solutions?
Thanks in advance.

First of all check all your components especially CPU, make sure they all sitting in slots properly and all cables are in right place. If you did overclock or changed anything in BIOS(power savers or fan speed etc.) set them default settings. Apply new thermal compound and thermal pad if you like. Still same problem go to BIOS if you can control the coolers fans, make sure fan speed is visible on BIOS and try to set highest fan speed manually. Still same you need a new cooler. Liquid coolers may leak so if it leaked slowly probably there isn't enough liquid to cool down the CPU. Also check fans of your liquid cooler. Cleaning computer will lower your temperetures but i think 85 quite high for dust problem unless its not dusted really, i mean really bad.

Hey mhm_24, thanks for your answer. However, I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to the insides of PCs. How do I make sure my components are sitting in the right slots like you mentioned?
