So i recently got myself a gtx 970 when it was kinda huge discount imo from it's original price and it works just fine, however im told that my cpu is a huge bottleneck.

Atm i run this, http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/1600748

I know for myself i want a i5-4460 but the problem is i don't know what motherboard i should get and if it will fit in my case. My case is https://www.asus.com/Tower-PCs/K30BF/

It's big and i got plenty of space but would it fit? (not that great with computers)

Also motherboard advices for the i5-4460!

Thanks!

Sticking with the i5-4460 here is the least expensive I could do while having decent quality:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($177.95 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock H81M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($56.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower Case ($34.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($62.98 @ NCIX US)
Total: $332.89

So basically you have a nice GPU and everything else is low end junk.

You are correct in that you will need a new CPU because a 960 would bottleneck an A10 pretty hard, a 970 would feel like a Ferrari stuck behind a school bus.

I in no way advise you to put the 970 in that case, even if it does fit. That case will not have sufficient cooling .
Also whatever PSU came with the computer is not near enough to run the GTX-970.

So you need a new CPU, new motherboard, new PSU, new case.

Also why do you want to buy an older generation i5-4460 instead of the newer skylake chips?
Sure you will need DDR4 memory instead of DDR3 but 8gb of that is only $35.

Did you get a quality 600w psu, or a metal box with "600w" printed on a sticker?
There are many cheapo power supplies out there, and when they die prematurely they often take fry your GPU and motherboard with it.

The power supply is a cx600w corsair powersupply with 80+bronze rating, would it be neccessary too change case? I wouldnt have a problem doing so, but id rather prefer a white one if possible for around 40 bucks.

can you return that PSU?
Corsair cx series are not that good and have weak capacitors that often fail after a year or two of heavy load.
This is not a fry the computer bad, but it will have a much shorter life then desired.

I would highly advise you to change the case. The stock ASUS case will have poor airflow and likely be a tight fit for the GPU.
You have to give those higher end GPUs the cooling and power they need, and you wont get that in an OEM computer.
$40 for a decent white case is a little tight. NZXT Source 210 white would be an adequate case, but this is barebones no bells & whistles case.

Im gonna skip the white case then and get the one listed before it. And i cant return the psu unfortunately, i can only replace it since it got 2 or 3 years warranty i believe it was.
