Hiya ya'll
I bought an SM 951 128gb M.2 drive, from Samsung, but it's not being shown in my computer.
I have a Gigabyte z170 gaming k3 MOBO, which says in the manual (and even on the actual mobo itself) that it supports up to 32gb/s pci-e 4x etc. so optimistic as I was, I simply booted straight to windows (currently installed on my 2tb hdd), to see my new drive. But.. it wasn't there.
I went back to the bios, and couldn't find it either in the boot-menu options.
I want to clone my HDD to the SSD for faster boot times and such, so I'd rather avoid installing from an USB stick once/if the thing works. Since this seems to matter, given the other forum entries I've read so far, windows is booting in UEFI mode.

Any ideas?

Try updating BIOS, I've heard some others with the same problem as you, and a BIOS update should fix it. But, there might be some other thing to try before doing the update, that's the way I know tho. Hope it helps. GL :)

I downloaded the latest bios for the mobo, but windows won't run the exe :/ It says (translated to English)
"This app cannot be executed on your pc. Ask the software-distributor whether there's a version for your pc."

A small update, not regarding the bios update though; if I press Delete, to enter the uefi bios, and look at the boot priorities, it doesn't list my m.2 ssd. However, if I press f12 during startup, (listed as booting) directly, it _does_ show it there.

Okay, even stranger update.
I've now looked at Window's device manager.. and it's fricking listed there! But it doesn't show up as an actually usabable disc in 'this computer', and the cloning tool I downloaded can't find it either. What could be causing this?

This might help you: youtube.com/watch?v=Uq3BrjWU7sg
Maybe you've done everything that appears there, but, take a look at it anyway :p

Well, he's doing a clean install, while I want to do a clone.
But.. I figured it out now
It had to do with both the bios, and windows trolling me big time by hiding things from me. The bios shows the ssd just fine.. but not in the place I looked where I've seen my other discs listed before.
And even windows shows it, but again not where I looked. (I looked at 'my computer') but it was listed in the device manager all along. I had to activate it or some weird sh*t though. Now I'm cloning my thing over, so I think it'll all work out.

Thanks, and everthing's working fine now.
I did a 'performance test' benchmark, and holy sh*t. My score went up from around 3800, to around 6500 :O
