Okay, here is what is happening.... I bought a used laptop. I have a thumb drive with Windows 8.1 Pro loaded, and an activation key.
When I loaded the new 8.1 on, I noticed that 1) I lost my "multimedia audio controller drivers" I tried many different ways and downloads to bring them back.... nothing worked. I also tried to run the windows updates and they wont run. I disabled the "firewall", they finally downloaded, but they wont install.
I put win7 Pro back on..... Audio controller came back, updates download and install correctly.
I put 8.1 back on and now "audio controller" is gone again, and updates will not download or install.
What is wrong with windows 8.1?
