800-850 watts should be enough. Since you are overclocking both the CPU and GPUs (I'm assuming it is an FX-8320?) higher wattage is always better.
hi
thxs for the reply would a 750w psu be enough for a over clocked fx 8320 @ 4.2ghz and hd 7970 crossfire with hd 7950 with no overclock on the gpu only cpu?
750 watts is right around the minimum for CFX 7970's. The 7950 uses less power but I'd shop for a PSU like I was shopping for 7970 GHz Crossfire. If you are just gaming on this PC, then it'll most likely work fine even with a mild OC of the GPUs and the CPU. Gaming doesn't peg the GPU load at 100% straight all the time so you probably won't experience any issues gaming. But, if you are using apps that do peg the CPU and GPU close to 100%, I'd go with an 800 or even 850 watter just to be safe. Either way, it is better to play it safe and give yourself a little more headroom than you actually need. Price differences between quality 750, 800 and 850 watt units aren't that big. But, I'd rather get a high quality, good brand 80+ gold 750 watt unit than a cheap-o 850 watt one.
