USB overcurrent detected

Hey guys I need help. I was gaming as usual and my keyboard and mouse stopped working all of a sudden. There's no virus problem as I just had my antivirus scan my entire system and only then I started gaming. Oh by the way all issues were resolved by BitDefender Total Security. And then I restarted my system and 15 minutes later the BIOS says Overcurrent detected on USB device, system will shut down in 15 seconds to prevent the main board. But before that it automatically booted into the BIOS and I saw that my printer and scanner connected to my motherboard's USB 2.0 sockets was showing up and then disappearing. I looked up in this forum and every one said that unplug the front USB cable and I did that, but still it shows the same error. So I came to the conclusion that the USB ports hardwired to the motherboard are causing the problem. What should I do? Will unplugging all the USB ports do the trick or will I have to call the manufacturer? By the way my motherboard is the MSI Z97s SLI Plus. If I use a PS/2 device I can update the drivers but I don't think this is a software issue. What are your thoughts?

It could be a mobo issue, or it could be that one of your devices are misbehaving and drawing too much power. Try booting the computer with just the KB + Mouse connected. Does it work then? If so, use trial and error to try and determine whether there is one faulty component (your printer, for example), or whether you can reliably recreate the issue (perhaps you can have 3-4 devices connected, but not more, etc).

If you find a device that you can unplug and make the problem go away, before condemning the device, you may want to try a different cable to rule out a bad cable and also try a different mix of plugged-in devices, just in case the over-current on your motherboard is shared between two or more ports and it happens to be only a combination of specific devices and ports that trip the over-current for those ports.

My PC does turn on if i remove all USB devices, but then I can't use my PC. Then, I booted with only the mouse connected and still it showed the same error. I tried every device, one by one. I didn't connect more than one device in any of the tests I performed. But sadly the same error!

Did it. Doesn't work. Same error is displayed.
