It is worth spending a bit more on an i3-6100 as you would have a clear upgrade path on your CPU, that CPU will not only be a drag on your system but there will be literally nothing better you can put in down the line to improve it.

I would personally look at the RX480 over the R390 at this stage unless you're getting an amazing deal on it as the prices of the two cards are pretty similar at the moment. In most reviews the RX480 is the same or slightly faster than the 390 and as it is way more power efficient and a newer architecture so it's probably worth choosing.

I did a quick edit to your part list it adds about $70 to your build to do this which might be out of budget. I would say though the i3 would be very much worth it if you...

I agree. My 390 with an oc will lock 60fps in doom (vulkan) and jc3. But the 480 will do the same with much less power use. Fallout 4 is an absolute mess on AMD stuff so don't expect much.

If just cause is your target game, that cpu is a waste of time. The physics can't be turned off and ive seen 99% across my i5 cores many times, leading to frame drops. Consider an i3 6100 at least.

ill be honest, your build will run the games you want to at 1920x1080 at a decent framerate at at medium to high. however, like the other said you should really try and get a different cpu as then one you have chosen is old and has no upgrade.

another point, your hard drive. if you are willing to spend a little more buy a ssd to put your os on to help speed things up a bit. other than that not a bad build

i would like an SSD but the 1tb or more cost out of my budget so i went with a hybrid sorta the best of both worlds cheap, quicker than a normal hd, and lots of storage

The hybrid helps a little but you're still better off with a dedicated SSD for the OS/common games and a large drive for backup etc. The build is pretty solid now for your budget and you've got the obvious options of dropping an i5/i7 in down the line and adding an SSD when you can afford it. Personally I game on an i3 with an 1060 @1080p I haven't run into any problems at all maintaining decent frame rates.

There are a small number of games that really love the extra power of more physical cores but as mentioned you'll have the option to upgrade later now.

Agree with above. I'll just mention just cause 3 again...do expect issues at times on that i3 due to the physics, you will see frame drops and there are also optimisation issues with AMD hardware in places. However it's a good system and the best you will do for the money.

I second the SSD if you can stretch.
