Hi everyone.

Hi everyone!

Yesterday when I was working on my Acer Aspire V3 laptop, windows froze. So I pressed the power button for 10 seconds to turn it off.

Now, when I try to start it up, I get the Acer screen, then the windows loading screen where the dots turn round in a circle, but at some point it freezes and doesnt continue.

I have tried:
- removing the battery and starting it with the AC adapter connected --> No change
- removing the battery, wait 10 minutes, holding the power button for 60 seconds, place the battery back, plug in the AC adapter and power on --> No change
- Starting up in safe mode --> Windows starts but the desktop freezes before I have been able to click on anything.
- System restore to a point about 8 days ago --> no Change
- Have the system debug/ fix problems itself --> did not work

I really hope someone has any more ideas for me to try....

- remove the RAM, blow in the brackets where the RAM is placed and putting the RAM back?
- flash the bios with from a self made USB recovery stick?
- the windows option to 'refresh your windows without affecting files' ?

Any help would be greately appreciated!!!!!

Solution
Thank you for your reply.

I have run a simpeler version of the memory test -->using the windows memory diagnostics and that found no errors.
When I have the time I will also do the bootable memtest
and see if i can figure out the temperature tests too.

The intel processor diagnostic tool was a pass with no remarks. so far so good.

It still works fine and i am hoping it was a fluke but it is a good idea to test all the components before the same things happens again.

An update, for whoever reads this and has the same problem:

In the end the option 'refresh windows without affecting your files' was the only thing that worked.

It reinstalled windows, which now seems to work fine and all my documents, pictures, videos etc are still there!
