Wired Printer not showing up on Wireless Network

So I'd be the first to admit networking is not my strong spot.

Basically, I set up a new router. I have my PC and printer connected to said router via Ethernet. I cannot access my printer from my wireless laptop even after installing the drivers. Am I missing something? Isn't the network the same even though ones accessed through LAN and the other is trying to access wireless? When I type the printer's IP in on my laptop's browser it says this site cannot be reached, which would indicate it is on a separate network. I just figure that if the printer is connected to the router, that means any other computer connected to the router (wirelessly or hard wired) should be able to access the printer as well?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Printer: HP 6700
Router: Netgear N600

I found what it was...it was a setting that I activated when I was setting up the router (don't ask me why I did it) but it was a setting called Wireless Isolation. "Wireless Isolation is a fairly rare feature on...

Can you try connecting it via. USB to your laptop?

Unfortunately I do not have a USB to USB connector. What were you thinking? And also, if you can, confirm that I am not crazy and I should be able to access the printer with my laptop, right?

I was thinking "what is the printer thinking." And as i dont speak in binary, sending its data(if it did infact transmit any) down a high speed cable would probably be a good way to find out, or atleast rule off some things that could be wrong. It "should" work, though depending on the settings of your network it may need configuring to work. Do you know what model the printer is?

It is an Officejet 6700 Premium.

Could it be that my printer runs at IPv4 and my router runs at IPv6? (Idk if that is a dumb question or not but I'm a dummy when it comes to this stuff).

Also, last piece of information. When I try to put the printer on wireless settings, my main PC (the one that is plugged into the router) AND the laptop (which is on the 2.4 Ghz network as well as the printer) BOTH won't recognize the printer on the network. In addition, I have set the security on the 2.4 Ghz network to WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]. And finally, in all situations, I can see the printer connected to the network in the Attached Device in the Netgear Genie; whether it be wired or 2.4 Ghz. Again any help would be much appreciated. I'm about to throw this printer out the window :ouch:

Im sure your router doesn't use exclusivley IPv6 so this should not be a problem, try the printer when it's connected via ethernet to the router.

I have. And my main PC (the one directly connected to the router as well) recognizes it, but my laptop (which is connected to the 2.4 Ghz) does not. Could it just be that it is a POS? 66% of people on Amazon gave it one star out of almost 800 reviews.

That was only partially sarcastic. Anyway, you mentioned some settings might need to be changed on the routers end? Which settings might those be?

I am not the best when it comes to networking just using what i know. On your laptop go to control panel/hardware and sound/ devices and printers. Right click and click "Add device or printer" This will scan the network for devices, if it is working correctly it will detect the printer and you can install drivers and set as default device. And as for settings i meant on the printer itself as where i work when installing a new printer it is assigned its own IP settings to allow it to be differentiated and found on the network. Try the Control panel first.

Yea that's where I've been trying. :??: It doesn't show up at all. Even when I try to search it by IP it doesn't pop up at all. And like I said it's connecting to the WiFi. I see it on the attached devices on the same exact network as my laptop...I even went as far as printing a wireless network test and it printed a nice big "No problems found. Congratulations on the successful setup of your wireless printer." Makes me laugh. I'm almost thinking there's something wrong with the printer. I've always had problems with it dropping from my network even before I changed my network hardware. I mean, usually I could at least connect for a little bit. I'm wondering if it is even a possibility that maybe either the hardware is failing, or since this printer is at least 5 years old or so that whatever advancements that came with the new router can't be supported by the printer?

Sorry for the seemingly useless suggestions; though the problem you're facing is rather odd. We have some prtiners that are ancient and still work on newish routers so i doubt this is the problem. Also they still use IPv4 as IPv6 simply cannot be functional at this moment in time. anyway it printing a test sheet and not an actual sheet is very weird and it is evident from this that it most likely isn't your router. It may sound simple but set the printer as "Default device" as it may not be sending it to that printer

I found what it was...it was a setting that I activated when I was setting up the router (don't ask me why I did it) but it was a setting called Wireless Isolation. "Wireless Isolation is a fairly rare feature on home based routers. When switched on, it stops two computers on the wireless network from seeing each other, but still allows you to see computers on the wired network". I can't believe that's what it was. Anyway, don't be sorry! I did say any help was welcome :p
