I am thinking about getting this motherboard: GA-H61M-DS2 and an i3 2100 or i5 2500 for a budget build for a mate. Can I get any RAM as long as it is 1.5V 1333 mhz (max board and i3 2100 support) and only up to 16 GB single or dual channel?

First look at the memory support list you can download from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3970#memory%20support%20list

Other memory may or may not work. Faster RAM usually works but not always.

You'll be better off to get 2X8Gb than a single 1X16Gb because the 1X16Gb won't run in dual channel mode so you will effectively cut the RAM speed in half. It takes 2 sticks to get the benefit of DDR technology.

http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/khx1600c9d3k3_12gx.p... This RAM is on the list as being 1333mhz (and not in the downgraded section) but it is actually 1600mhz, it has the same specs as this ram: http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/kvr1333d3n9_4g.pdf and this ram I can get very close to me. Could this work?
