Looking at two kits of 16GB RAM. One runs at 3000 MHz and has a latency of 13-15-15-28, whereas the other set runs at 2666 MHz and has a 15-17-17/CL14–CL15. I was originally going with the 3000 MHz set, due to speeds and I trust their brand from previous experiences.

Should I stick with the higher frequency and would 1 value up or down really make a difference in latency and the use of the RAM.

Solution
the way you described it the DDR-3000 got 13-15-15-28 timings while the DDR-2666 has 15-17-17
thereas the 3000 got better timings as well as a better speed?

Been seeing it as the 3000 MHz as slower, but re-checking both of their sites the posted speeds are correct. Seems as if the 3000 MHz RAM is the better option then.

EDIT: Infact the 3000 MHz is the speed of the RAM at 2133 MHz, the RAM latency at 3000 MHz is 15-17-17-35. Whereas, the 2666 MHz runs at 13-15-15.

3000 MHz runs at 15-17-17-35 and the 2666 MHz runs at 13-15-15. Would these speeds see a noticeable difference between the two sets.

What are the model numbers of the sets as you show conflicting CLs? If the 2666 is indeed 2666/15 it will roughly be equivalent to a 3000/17 set, so the 3000 if base is say 14/15 would be better . How much is dependent on what you do, in gaming it's better depending on the game - though will more likely show in multi-tasking and apps that are memory centric ;)

The two sets where DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000 MHz 2x 8GB and DDR4 HyperX Fury 2 x 8GB. These are the two sets I'm indecisive about, the Corsair has a slightly higher MHz at 3000 MHz compared to 2666 on the HyperX. I was worried the higher MHz would have a much lower latency compared to the HyperX set.

I will be mostly using the build to game.

there is a GSKill set @3000MHz that comes with 15-15-15 timings if you're interested

for gaming the difference won't be so much for 9/10 games
some memory heavy deep strategy games might show a little favour towards higher clock speeds but mostly it's basically indifferent

Would have loved to get this set, unfortunately, I cannot buy these in the UK at reasonable prices compared to other brands.
