hi guys,

I recently bought a Radeon R9 290n graphics card for my machine but the screen was black.

Could anyone tell me from the details of the components what the issue is?

Dell XPS 8300
Processor: intel core i3 -2100 cpu 3.10GHz
Memory:400GB
64bit operating system
x64 based processor

- Power supply is not the issue as just upgraded to double the power

Sorry if Im missing something obvious, Im a complete beginner to computers!

What kind of PSU do you have? Is the power plugged into the GPU (I believe its a 8-pin and 6-pin for that card)? And is your video cable to the monitor plugged into the GPU or into the motherboard?

I am not sure on the name but I recently bought a new one which I remember can easily power that graphics card. A computer engineer came and fitted in the power supply to power the card so I assume he tried plugging into the GPU. I was curious whether you would recognise if the processor was the problem or you think it is another problem?
Sorry for the obscurity I am quite clueless, no worries if you cant help
