Prime95 cooling Problem

Hello,

I think i got i little cooling Problem with my i7 4790k.
In Prime95 with the small FFT test i get over 90 degrees celcius with a bequiet dark rock pro 3.
I reapllied ne cooling compund already with the same results.

Are my Temps to high or is this ok for a Haswell Chip?

Some versions of P95 have issues with haswell processors. I would use Intel Burn Test to see what you temps are like.
What are your temps during gaming?

oh no that is to be expected with that chip. When it goes into AVX mode its voltage automatically raises and thus the temps go wild. avoid running prime 95 unless you can cool it better, as it will cook itself over time. My friend was overclocking his 4790K with a H100i and at 1.325V it hit 95C in seconds after launching prime95, then blue screened. so really just do not run prime 95 or get something like a h100i and do not push the voltage as far.

If your temps are only a problem when running Prime95, and not when doing anything else on your computer, I'd suggest just not running Prime.

yeah, that test is not very useful anymore, especially on the 4790K as the AXV functions just makes the chip become a reactor.

I did not oc it at all. PLaying Witcher 3 for example on Ultra the Chip reaches 65 degrees so it should be fine. I will just not run Prime95 anymore. ^^
