Mechanical hard drives not seen in bios/uefi

I was having problems with my home built pc failing to startup. The fans would spin, stop, spin again and so on and never get to a post. So I fitted a new, better PSU. Upon reassembling, I now find my two mechanic hard drives are no longer recognised, even by the bios. The two SSDs are fine.

I tried every combination of SATA ports and data and power leads, even replaced my old PSU.

Neither drive feels like they are even spinning up. Disk Management and UEFI don't see them.

It seems odd that two drives would fail just because of replaced a PSU. Is it possible it is a mobo fault? It is an uptodate one only 15 months old.

Edit: I have since added a third mechanical hard drive on SATA and it is fine.

I also read elsewhere that I should not have used the sata power leads from my old modular PSU on the new one as the wiring may be different. This doesn't seem likely to me or does it? Anyway I only use the provided lead for the new mechanical drive.

see if the drives pluged only with the sata power cable are spinning

if the SSD's and the third drive works fine in all the sata ports on the motherboard then you have a faulty pair of hdd's

They are not spinning. It seems so odd for two to fail in exactly the same way simultaneously.
