Hi there, since I've had my two GTX 1070s in SLI, I've noticed that in DICE games they run extremely hot reaching 90c in the BF1 Beta and Star Wars Battlefront EA. I play with everything maxed including resolution scaling and my GPUs do have a slight OC with plus 100 on the core and plus 400 on the memory. I also have a custom fan curve to help cool the GPUs a little better but it still gets hot. I have an i5 4690k at 4.4ghz as well. I guess my question is if its safe with one card at 90c and the other 74c or is it too risky and dangerous? Also the ambient temperature in my room is 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks for any help!!

PS- My case is the NZXT h440 and i have two 140mm corsair afs on the front and top of the case and 1 on the back and my CPU cooler is the coolermaster master airmaker 8

Solution
Remove the overclock while playing them and see what happens first. If it does not help keep the OC off and limit the temp to 88°C.

EDIT: also try removing hte side panel and putting a desk fan blowing over the GPU's. If this works then the issue is air flow.
92°C is the max temp for those GPU chips. That is to close for comfort in temps. Try adding a fan to blow between the GPU's to feed the top GPU more cool air.

Edit: it is common to have the top card get hot because ther eis such a small air gap between them. Do what you can to force cool air between them.

I already do have a fan blowing in between them from the front of the case...should i get a static pressure to help and could i actually just set my GPU temp limit to like 86c? Or will that hit my performance a lot? Thanks for the quick response

Front fans help but side fans are meant for this purpose exactly. I under stand that your case is not set up for a side fan so you will need to improvise ( or change cases ) a fan closer to the GPU's.

Because there is no holes on the side panel you will need to have the fan blowing in on them from the front side of the case but after the HDD bays. Zip ties and rubber bands will be your friend with this. A higher static pressure fan will help placed where I mentioned but with higher pressure comes more noise. So be aware of this fact.

limiting the GPU's temp is always a good option and recommended because it will prevent over heating. It will hurt performance because the GPU is getting so hot but feeding that GPU more cool air should stop this from happening.

So I've put a fan inside my PC right infront of the GPUs and still it gets way too hot...so do you think i should just limit the temp when playing dice games??
