ive recently brought a i7 6700 i was happy that i got it now people am telling me i wasted my money and should of got a i7 6700k or a i7 4790k whats the difference i now feel stupid

Solution
Don't feel bad! Ignore those people. I do have i7-6700K because I love playing around and overclock. i7-6700 is the same except it's locked and cannot be overclocked. My i7-6700K at stock speed (similar to i7-6700) is the greatest thing I've ever had. Overclocking helps but not that much (at least not for gaming).

You made a good choice. :)

Certainly not a waste of money, the 6700 is a great chip, and will be for a while.

K chips are overclockable and come with a slightly higher base frequency out the box. Your CPU is great. Do not feel stupid!

What do you mainly use your computer for? in most cases the i7 would perform better than i5 but in gaming it won't make much difference. and with K processors you would need a Z series, a good after cooler and i think good Power Supply so you can overclock and you won't really see much difference in real life scenarios, so i would say stick with the 6700.
