Okay, I have several PSUs that I can use for this GPU, but I ran into something I'm not entirely sure of. On the website it says nothing about the amps required for this GPU to run, only that it recommends a 300 watt or more PSU to run and that's it http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-730/specifications The 25 watt card power is what mine is suppose to use.
Thermal and Power Specs:
Maximum GPU Temperature (in C) 98 98 98
Graphics Card Power (W) 49 23 25
Minimum Recommended System Power (W) 300 300 300
The reason I am asking this is because I read somewhere online (i can't remember where) that there is a requirement of 20 amps on +12 volt rail for this GPU to work. I have no clue where this information came from since it's not listed on the official website lol This graphics card is the low profile version that I got for my slimline computer. I currently have a 220 watt in the computer I'm going to use, but also have a 250 watt PSU from another slimline computer that I can replace the 220 watt with. I read on a post on here that a 250 watt PSU would be ok for this card http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2851452/250w-psu-run-asus-geforce-730.html
"Yes, for sure. it will handle your system with ease. "
None of the power supplies I have have the 20 amp on +12V rail listed (highest I have on power supplies was 18 amp on my 600 watt PSU (not for slimline) and 17 amps on my slimline 250 watt power supply.
Now for the questions. Would my 250 watt slimline PSU (will move out of my dell pc and move into pc I'm going to use) work for this graphics card? or should I move components into a bigger case and use my 600 watt PSU with 18 amps? Do I need to buy another PSU? Would not having enough amps and trying to run the graphics card mess up the graphics card at all? or will it just not work is all? Thanks for any help you can give me
I will check back for replies later on. Again, thanks for any help that you can give me!
